With ref. to an abstraction, an abstract entity, a command, etc.: (a) against that or it, against those; from it or them; parten ~, to separate (oneself) from it, cease it; (b) taken ~, to receive it, be presented with it; also, be fed with it [2nd quot.; cp. OI taka við].

(a) With ref. to a concrete object: with it or them in one's possession; (b) with ref. to a substance, an abstraction, etc.: in combination with it or them, mixed with that, with it, into that; medlen (mengen) ~; ben ~, to display it, be characterized by its presence; (c) with ref. to an object, a group, an abstraction, etc.: along with it, in company with it or them [1st quot. could also be construed as sense 1.(a)]; also in fig. context; (d) with ref. to a proposition, a statement of fact, etc.: accorden (ben) ~, to be in agreement with that; also, conform to that, match up with that [quot. ?a1450].
