Med. In names of pharmaceutical preparations, or drugs, usually indicating that the herb or the like which follows is the chief ingredient: (a) ~ bardich, some kind of drug; ~ borago, a drug made of borage (i.e. having borage as chief ingredient); ~ calamentum, a drug made of calamint; ~ camedreos, an electuary made from common germander Teuchrium chamaedrys; ~ cameron, a compound drug; ~ cartamus, -carthamus, a drug made of carthamus, or bastard saffron; ~ cassiafist(u)la, a drug made of pods of the drumstick tree (Cassia fistula); ~ castorie, a drug made of castoreum; ~ catholicon, -chatholicon, a drug having many ingredients; ~ ciminum, a drug made of cumin; ~ citonicon, -ciconidem, a drug made of cytonia (cp. L cottana small Syrian fig); ~ codion, a drug made of poppies; ~ croca, -crota, a drug made of saffron; (b) ~ dactilicon, -dactilatum, a drug made of dates; ~ dragantum, -dragagantum, a drug made of gum tragacanth; ~ flosmus, a plaster made of mullein; ~ gredie, -gredium, a drug made of scammony and used as a laxative; ~ langa (?error for diagalange q.v.), some kind of drug used for sciatica; dialtea, -tia, -cia, -tes, -tred, an ointment made of marsh mallow; ~ maratrum, a drug made of fennel; ~ margariton, a drug made of pearls; ~ mirra, a drug made of myrrh; ~ moron, -meron, a drug made of mulberries; ~ nisum, dionis(i)on (cp. Dionysius), an electuary made of aloes and tansy; ~ ntos, a drug made of rosemary; ~ nucum, a drug made of the husks of walnuts; (c) ~ olibanum, a drug made of olibanum; ~ palma, a drug made of palm oil; ~ papaver, a drug made of poppies; ~ penidion, -pendion, a sweet drug in the form of a twisted thread, used to relieve coughing; ~ ponfiligos, -ponfoligos, a drug made of a crude oxide (?of zinc); ~ prunis, a drug made of plums; ~ quilon, -culon, -colon, -clun (cp.
