Differently from the DNP database, the biogenetic numbering system was retained even in the ellipticen and olivacen alkaloids. The parent names ellipticen and olivacen (without suffix ’e’) concern the C-methylated tetracyclic ringsystem having, according to the IUPAC rules, the maximum number of non-cumulated double bonds (32/E and 32/O, respectively, in scheme 5).
