17. Dakin-West Reaction reaction 17.1 a-amino dicarboxylic acids with carboxylic acid anhydrides - Dakin-West reaction34 1 To glutamic acid (7.3 g) and acetic anhydride (25 mL) is added DMAP (50 mg) and triethylamine (25 mL).
2 The solution is stirred at 60 C for 8 h.
3 The resulting product is distilled under vacuum to give 1,5-diacetyl-2-pyrrolidone
