Law: (a) Seizin, possession in freehold, freq. indicated or established by actual or physical possession; also, the right to something [quot.: c1436, 2nd]; also, the ceremony at which seizin is established, with pun on sesoun n. [quot.: 1426, 3rd occurrence]; taken ~, to take seizin; also, establish one's authority [quot.: a1425]; (b) deliveri (livere) of ~, the transfer, or formal act by which transfer is made, of a freehold interest [see also livere n.(3) 1.(d)]; first ~, primer seizin, the right of the English king to exact a relief (of varying amount) from the heir of a tenant holding in chief; writ of (deliveri of) ~, some kind of writ directing the sheriff to put a person in legal possession of property; deliveren ~, to establish someone in possession as of freehold.
