(a) To calumniate (sb.), slander (a woman's name or virtue); accuse (sb.) falsely; ppl. sclaundring as adj.: slanderous; (b) to reveal unfavorable truth about (sb.), embarrass (a guild), reveal (someone's secret); (c) to speak ill of (sb., a city, the state of religion), blame, traduce; ppl. sclaundred, blamed; made a laughingstock; ppl. sclaundring as adj.: gossipy, fault-finding; (d) to speak falsely; spread misinformation about (sb.).
