To extend (something) in space: (a) lengthen, prolong; lay or lie lengthwise; (b) straighten (a finger), extend (a limb); raise (an arm, a sword); extenden up; (c) stretch, make taut or tense; also, torture; (d) train (vines); (e) spread (salve); (f) fig. spread (fame).
2.
(a) To have a certain extent in space, to reach or run (to a certain point); -- also pass. and refl.; (b) to have a certain scope or range; of a disease: ?to take a certain course.
3.
To lengthen or extend (a period of time); to continue (to do something).
4.
Of funds, income, etc.: (a) to be adequate or sufficient; (b) to amount (to a certain sum).

(a) To aim at, strive for, or tend toward (a certain purpose or goal); (b) to bestow (mercy); to vent (malice).
