[1]   AE, DNA NR RG 48, Department of Interior, Appointments, Indian Agencies, Box 61. Lincoln's endorsement appears on a letter from James H. Lane, Samuel J. Crawford, and Sidney Clarke, March 7, 1865, recommending Alexander Low of Doniphan, Kansas, for agent of the Nimeha (Nemaha) Indians. No record of Low's appointment has been found.
