IV. ‡ Ceratim Vulnerarium, A Cerate for Wounds.

Salmon.] § 1. ℞ Wax, Frankincense, A. lbij. Gum Elemi, Chio Turpentine, A. lbj. Balsam de Tolu, de Chili, A. lbss. melt the Wax and Frankincense at a gentle Fire, then add the Gum Elemi and Turpentine, which being also dissolved. put in lastly the Balsams de Tolu and de Chili, and continue stirring them till it is nearly cold.

§ 2. You may spread it upon Cloth or Leather, and apply it to either Wounds or Ulcers, renewing it once or twice a day, as the Nature of the Affect does require.

§ 3. It also eases Pains in any part being applied pro∣ceeding from a cold Cause, strengthens weak Limbs and Joints, discusses Swellings, and gives singular ease in the Gout and Sciatica.

§ 4. It oftentimes cures green Wounds at one or two dressings, and old Ulcers in a very short time; applied over the whole Belly, it gives present relief in the Cholick, and in short time after, perfect cure.

V. ‡ Ceratum ad Clavos pe∣dum, A Cerate against Corns of the Feet.

Salmon.] § 1. ℞ Gum Ammoniacum dissolved in Vi∣negar of Squills and inspiatedij. Vitriol of Venusss. (but some use Cyprian or Roman Vitriol, which they call the blew Stone, of which they take ʒjss.) white precipitate well e∣dulcorated ʒiij. Strasburgh Turpentine a little, or q. s. mix and make a Cere-cloth.

§ 2. You may spread it upon Cloth or Leather and apply it, renewing it when it ceases to stick, or as you see occasion.

§ 3. It is designed for the Cure of Corns in the Feet and Toes, for which it is doubtless an excellent thing: It prevails also against old Ulcers, which are hard to be cured, and dissolves or suppurates Veneral Buboes; and is said to be good a∣gainst Gums, Tophs, Nodes, &c. being applied.
