About 1217. Confirma|tion to Oseney, by Henry Doyly II, as feudal superior, of Cogges wood, as in no. 107, with power to disforest it or sell it.

KNOWE tho þat be present and to be that I, Henry Doylly, of owr lorde Kyng constable, haue i-grauntid, and with this present charter confermed, to god and to þe church of Seynte marie of Osneye and to þe chanons þere seruyng god, in-to pure and perpetuell almes, all þe woode of Cudelynton [Names noted in margin.] þe which Is i-callid Coggeswode [Names noted in margin.] with his pertinences, withoute

oony withholdyng, [þe which] þe same chanons hauen of þe yifte of Sir or lorde John Gray, Bisshope sumtyme of Norwhich, þe which also woode I Henry Doylly ȝafe and with my charter confermed to lorde John Bisshop of Norwhich. Wherfore I wille þat þe forsaide chanons þe forsaide woode holde and haue for Euer with all pertinences, in-to ffre pure and perpetuell almes, quite fro all seculer seruice þat to me or my heyres perteyneth. And be hit lawfull to þe forsaide chanons of Oseney to þe forsaide woode to Copice ['assartare.'] , to ȝeve, or to sell to whome-so-Euer þey willen or to religious men or to oþer. And I, Henry Doylly, and my heyres, þe forsaide woode to þe fornamyd chanons or to whome-so-Euer þey will assine hit agaynste all men for Euer schall warantize. And that this my graunte and confirmacion bide sure and stable for Euer, hit whith my present writyng with my seeles puttyng-to haue i-strenghthid hit: þese witnesses.
