In the foreground are 3 adult Native Americans standing and 4 sitting with 1 smoking a pipe. One canoe is tipped on its side and one is upright, both on the shore. Houses line the beach with slanted roofs and square walls. On the lake is a 2 masted sailing ship, close to the shore, with what appears to be canoes around it. In the distance is a hill with Fort Mackinac atop, showing walls and 3 buildings. The building in the background is likely for fur storage.
