MARCH MEETING, 1942 891 From Baker Perkins, Inc., for investigation: in connection with automatic centrifuges; no estimated cost set and no limit given From The Dow Chemical Company (Bay City Division), for investigation of sheet stringer panels; at an estimated cost of less than $500 From Board of Education, City of Detroit, for consulting services and laboratory work in connection with foundation studies for the Logan and Sill Schools, four purchase orders; at a total estimated cost for the four orders of $2,000 The President reported the following gifts, each of which was accepted in accordance with its terms and conditions and with the thanks of the Board (p. 887): From the W. K. Kellogg Foundation, Battle Creek, $2,228 to cover the cost of publishing a manuscript entitled "Community Workshop for Teachers in the Michigan Community Health Project." The money has been added to the Monographs in Education fund (p. 779). From the Monsanto Chemical Company, St. Louis, Missouri, promise to provide $750 for the Monsanto Chemical Works Research Fellowship for 1942-1943 (p. 615) From an anonymous donor, $625 for the Aboriginal North American Research fund, to be used as salary for George K. Neumann, Research. Associate in the Museum of Anthropology, for the period from July 1 to September 30, 1942, at the rate of $2,500 a year, twelve-month basis (p. 736) From Mir. Gustave H. Ferbert, Ph.B., '97, $200 for the Class of 1897 Memorial Loan fund (R.P. 1936-1939, p. 326) From the Sarah Ann Cochrane Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, of Plymouth and Northville, Michigan, $80 "to be used as a student loan fund." The account has been named for the Chapter. From Mr. A. I. Levorsen, Tulsa, Oklahoma, $75 "for the use of students in the Department of Geology." The account has been designated Geology Student Loan. From Gamma Chapter, Miu Phi Epsilon, through Mary Stubbins, Treasurer, $25 for the MIu Phi Epsilon Scholarship for 1941-1942 (p. 590) From the Chinese Students Club, through Joseph Lee, Treasurer, $22 for the Chinese Students Loan fund (p. 209) From Mr. James Inglis, Ann Arbor, $1,000 for. the Prostatic Disease Research fund (p. 843) From Parke, Davis and Company, Detroit, and Eli Lilly and Company, Indianapolis, Indiana, an offer to sponsor, jointly, a project in research on ergot substitutes. Each company proposes to contribute a sum of not to exceed $4,000 during the calendar year 1942. The project is to be under the direction of Dr. Frederick F. Blicke, Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, College of Pharmacy. It is recommended that these proposals be accepted with the express provision that the donors will agree to give to the University 5 per cent royalties on net sales of the patented product if a patented product results from these investigations.
