Lagler Salaries.............................................. $1,068.25 Expense and Equipment.................................... 139.93 $1,208.18 The Regents appropriated the sum of $761.20 and authorized its disbursement to various students in the School of Dentistry whose property, in charge of the Dental Faculty, had been stolen by thieves from the room where the property was stored. The value given is that of the scrap gold involved. The Board approved the traveling expense vouchers of Regent Herbert in the sum of $77.10 for attendance at the September meeting of the Regents and in the sum of $71.05 for attendance at the annual convocation of the Medical School. The following resolution was adopted, giving formal embodiment to the action of the Board taken at the meeting of October 15 on the bequest of the late Marie Louise Douglas (p. 715): WHEREAS, this Board had been notified that the late Marie Louise Douglas of the City of Ann Arbor, Michigan, has, by her last will and testament, of record in the Probate Court, City of Ann Arbor, Washtenaw County, Michigan, devised to this Board, certain Ann Arbor real estate, as appears by the fifth paragraph of said will, as follows: FIFTH: I give, devise and bequeath to The Regents of the University of Michigan, a Constitutional Corporation, the real estate owned by me and situated on East Huron Street and East Washington Street in the city of Ann Arbor, Washtenaw County, Michigan, and known as 502 East Huron Street, but including the entire parcel there situate and extending from East Huron Street on the north, to East Washington Street on the south, it being expressly provided, however, that it be known as the Washtenaw Historical Museum. I express the wish that the enterprise be conducted as a joint museum for the display of the property of the Washtenaw Historical Museum, under the supervision of The Regents of the University of Michigan, with such cooperation between the groups as may be desirable to effectuate that purpose. In the event that The Regents of the University of Michigan elect not to accept this gift, I will and direct that the property above mentioned be considered a part of the residue of my estate and disposed of accordingly. Now therefore, be it Resolved, That by reason of the provisos and restrictions to such gift, and after full and careful consideration thereof, this Board hereby elects not to accept the gift of said property, and hereby declines the device provided in such last will and testament, and hereby releases and discharges said estate and its executor, James G. Hays, from any and all liability in connection therewith. The President placed on file communications from Professor Wassily Besekirsky and Professor Hanns Pick with respect to their salaries and other terms and conditions of employment (p. 771). All of the above actions were by unanimous vote except where otherwise expressly stated. The Board adjourned to Friday, December 19, at 10 A.M. SHIRLEY W. SMITH, Secretary
