From Mr. Jay Handler Schmidt, '16 Eng., New York City, one laboratory size
"Lightnin'" mixer, and one Eppenbach colloid mill, for the use of the
Department of Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering, with a value of $298
Carleton Volney Kent, Ph.D., was appointed half-time Visiting
Professor of Physics vice Professor Samuel A. Goudsmit, on leave
(p. 539). This appointment of Dr. Kent is for the first semester of
the present University year only and is at the rate of $1,950 per year.
Dr. Kent was also appointed half-time Research Associate in Physics,
for the entire University year 1941-1942, with salary of $1,950 per
year, payable from the trust-fund budget known as Research Project
R No. 13. Under these appointments Dr. Kent's total compensation
will be $2,925, funds to cover which are already provided in the
budget.
The sum of $13,498 was added to the budget of the University
School of Music for the present year for use as follows:
Wassily Besekirsky, Professor of Violin, two-thirds time, salary $3,750
Hanns Pick, Professor of Violoncello, fourteen-twenty-fifths time, salary $3,248
Professor of Violin, to be appointed, salary $5,500
Part-time Instructor in Violoncello, to be appointed, salary, $1,000
All of the above actions were by unanimous vote.
The Board adjourned to Tuesday, November 11, at 3 P.M.
