Proceedings of the Board of Regents (1939-1942)

First July Meeting, 1941

The Board met in the Regents' Room at 3:35 P.M., the original call
of the meeting having been extended by general consent to the present
date and hour (p. 666).
Present, the President, Regent Crowley, Regent Shields, Regent
Cram, Regent Kipke, and Regent Herbert. Absent, Regent Cook, Regent Lynch, Regent Hemans, and Superintendent Elliott. There were
also in attendance Vice-President Yoakum, Provost Stason, and the
Secretary.
Certain financial reports were placed on file.
The budget as prepared and presented to the Board for the fiscal
year 1941-1942 was discussed at length, but final action was postponed until a special meeting set, on motion, for July 18, at 2 P.M.
The traveling expense vouchers of Regent Herbert, in the amount
of $63.17, covering expenses incurred while attending the Regents'
meeting of June 20 and Commencement Exercises of June 21, were
approved.
The budget of the University residence halls for the fiscal year
1941-1942, as prepared by the Board of Governors of Residence Halls,
was adopted by the Regents in the amount of $84,370.50 for the
group of six residence halls not covered by any bond issue, and
$655,915.50 for the group of five residence halls whose revenues are
pledged to secure a bond issue (p. 321).
Leave of absence with pay, on account of illness, from April 3
through May 18, 1941, was voted to Miss Maxine Boone, dietitian of
Mosher-Jordan Halls.
Retirement allowances were approved as follows, from the sources
