this time in the study of dermatology and syphilology at the Mayo Clinic
and the New York Skin and Cancer Hospital.
Frank H. Smith, Assistant Professor of Miechanism and Engineering Drawing,
extension of present leave for the University year 1941-1942 (p. 433).
Assistant Professor Francis X. Lake, appointed in October, 1940 (p. 444), to
handle the work of Professor Smith during 1940-1941, was reappointed, for
the University year 1941-1942, Assistant Professor of Mechanism and Engineering Drawing with salary of $2,500 for the University year.
John Grennan, Instructor in Foundry Practice, from June 5 until the end of the
present Summer Session, with full pay, due to illness
The Board directed that the limit of University deposits in the Ann
Arbor Savings and Commercial Bank be raised to $500,000 (R.P. 1932 -1936, p. 837).
The sum of $2,500 was added to the budget of the 1941 Summer
Session to provide special noncredit courses for approximately fifty
South American students.
The sum of $500 was added to the budget of the 1941 Summer
Session to provide a course for graduate students serving as educational
advisers in the CCC camps of the sixth corps area, under the same
general terms and conditions as obtained in the Summer Session of
1940 (p. 186).
The sum of $1,100 was voted to the Visiting Nurse Association of
Detroit for instruction in public health nursing furnished during the
academic year 1940-1941 (p. 306).
Permission was given to Walter M. Roth, Assistant Superintendent
of Buildings and Grounds, to purchase an annuity under the usual
plan with monthly premiums paid jointly by himself and by the
University.
The Board approved the following appropriations by the Board of
Governors of the Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies from
the Horace H. Rackham and other funds as stated, all being for the
year 1941-1942 unless otherwise stated in the record of the appropriation (p. 548):
