Special Public Health Course
Dorothy Simon Engel, M.S.S., Lecturer in Social Case Work, Division of Hygiene
and Public Health, $350
In view of the prospective retirements of Professor Harrison M.
Randall and Professor Neil H. Williams with the end of the present
semester, the Board appointed Professor Ernest F. Barker to be
Chairman of the Department of Physics in addition to his duties as
Professor, with an increase in salary from $4,900 per year to $5,400
per year, beginning with the second semester of the present University
year. The sum of $250 required for the salary increase was added to
the budget.
On recommendation of the Council of the Research Club, Professor
Harrison M. Randall was appointed to give the Henry Russel Lecture
for the present University year, with the usual honorarium (pp. 288
and 156).
Mrs. James O. Murfin, Detroit, was appointed to membership in
the Board of Governors of the Martha Cook Building, vice Mrs. James
D. Bruce, whose term will expire December 31, 1940. The term of
office of Mrs. Murfin is from January 1, 1941, to December 31, 1943,
inclusive (R.P. 1936-1939, p. 422).
The Board approved the following respective special compensations listed for those participating during the present University year
up to and including December 31 in the courses in postgraduate dentistry established under grant of the W. K. Kellogg Foundation
(p. 360):
