A graduate of this University in the class which now celebrates its forty-fifth Commencement anniversary. His fame as Director of Athletics lives on in Michigan tradition; his devotion as an alumnus is recorded in enduring form. Through his efforts the usefulness of the University has been increased; its beauty enhanced. A benefactor, wise in counsel, helpful in service, whose qualities of mind and heart endear him to all. MASTER OF ENGINEERING HARVEY MILTON MIERKER. A graduate in Chemical Engineering in the class of 1909, long recognized as a leader in his profession, who has successfully developed methods of preparing glandular extracts. A scientist who has quickened industry; an industrialist who interprets business in terms of social welfare. MASTER OF SCIENCE NORMA BERTHA ELLES. A graduate of the Medical School in 1906, an eminent authority on diseases of the eye and ear. Her technique in, surgery has been masterly; her scientific research, important. With skill and acumen she restores to many their joy in the beauty of things seen. L. D. HAVENIILL. A graduate of this University with the degree of Pharmaceutical Chemist in 1893 and Master of Pharmacy in the following year, now Dean of the School of Pharmacy in the University of Kansas. Author of widely known works, member of important national committees, repeatedly honored by his colleagues with high office in associations of his specialty, he has exerted a marked influence in advancing the standards of his profession. An able administrator; a far-seeing educator. PERCIVAL C. LOWERY. A graduate of the School of Dentistry in the class of 1910, for seven years a member of its faculty, an authority on prosthetic dentistry. The demands of practice have not lessened his devotion to research, nor dulled his interest in the advancement of technical knowledge. Numerous contributions to scientific journals prove his competence as an investigator; honors paid him by colleagues attest the eminence he has won in his profession. MASTER OF LAWS HOWARD L. BARKDULL. Bachelor of Arts in 1909, Juris Doctor in 1911, public-spirited citizen and leader of the Ohio Bar. To him, more than to any other, his State gives credit for creating a new Probate Code, generally regarded as a model of progressive legislation. An enlightened interpreter of the law; a constructive force in the administration of justice. DOCTOR OF ENGINEERING JOHN CASTLEREAGH PARKER, JR. Recipient of three degrees from this University, and for seven years a member of its faculty as Professor in Charge of Electrical Engineering. Long associated with construction and power companies as mechanical and electrical engineer, he has filled many posts of responsibility and everywhere justified the trust placed in his knowledge and judgment. A leader in one of the great industries of the world who has proved his capacity to organize and achieve.
