The Board made certain salary adjustments within the budget in
accordance with the recommendation presented by the Committee on
Office Personnel (p. 908).
Leaves of absence and extensions of leaves of absence were voted
as follows:
Samuel A. Goudsmit, Professor of Physics, extended to June 30, 1943 (p. 778)
Emerson W. Conlon, Associate Professor of Aeronautical Engineering, changed to
read "University year 1942-1943" (p. 853)
Henry L. Kohler, Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering, changed from "for
the duration of the national emergency" to "for the University year 1942 -1943" (p. 874)
Elmore S. Pettyjohn, Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering, changed from
"for the duration of the national emergency" to "for the University year
1942-1943" (p. 874)
Walter C. Sadler, Professor of Civil Engineering, leave extended through the
University year 1942-1943 (p. 762)
Frank H. Smith, Assistant Professor of Mechanism and Engineering Drawing,
leave extended through the University year 1942-1943 (p. 658)
Roy S. Swinton, Associate Professor of Engineering Mechanics, leave extended
through University year 1942-1943 (p. 611)
Martin J. Orbeck, Assistant Professor of Mechanism and Engineering Drawing,
from April 28, 1942, through University year 1942-1943, without salary
Harry Bouchard, Professor of Geodesy and Surveying and Director of Camp
Davis, second semester 1941-1942, with salary, due to illness
Fred F. Basom, Jr., Blueprinter, Mechanism and Engineering Drawing, April 11
to June 30, 1942, without salary
Nathan Malamud, Instructor in Psychiatry and Assistant Neuropathologist, February 9 to May 1, 1942, with salary, due to illness
Willard C. Olson, Professor of Education and Director of Research in Child
Development, for the 1942 summer term, without salary
Irving H. Anderson, Assistant Professor of Education, for the 1942 summer term,
without salary
The Board approved the detailed budget for the Summer Session of
1942 in the total sum of $205,881.62 (p. 504). This budget covers
the operation of the summer session considered as a more or less
definite and distinct program within the summer term (p. 910).
The sum of $695 was added to the Current account of the University Registrar's Office.
The Board approved payment of bill for legal services, totaling
$939.22, presented by Burke and Burke for the quarter ended March
31, 1942 (p. 841). Of this total $450.72 is chargeable to Legal Fees
and Expenses and the balance is distributable to other appropriate
accounts.
The Board authorized continuance upon the University payrolls
of the two building custodians named below, with monthly payment
to them of $30 and without assignment of regular duties, effective
April 6, 1942:
Walter Wallace Coe, in service nineteen years, now seventy-four
years of age; Fred Coats, in service twenty-five years, now seventythree years of age.
