MARCH MEETING, 1938 493 Tissue Immunity Anne Louise Pates, B.S., Research Assistant, Clinical Laboratories, University Hospital, vice Elizabeth B. McDermott, resigned In accordance with the recommendation of the Board of Governors of the Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies, the Regents created the position of Director of the Institute of Human Adjustments (p. 224). To this directorship Mr. Clark Tibbitts was appointed with the title of Director of the Institute of Human Adjustments and Lecturer in Sociology for the period of one year beginning July 1, 1938, at the salary of $5,000, twelve-month basis, the salary to be allocated on the basis of $4,400 from the Institute and $600 from the Department of Sociology. The Director of the Institute shall be empowered, in conference with an executive committee, to perform the duties of coordinating the Institute's activities and of studying and reporting on lines of further growth, and shall have immediate supervision over its administrative details. It was provided further that there shall also be an advisory committee to consider matters of policy as they arise; this committee shall be appointed by the President and the Regents upon the recommendation of the Executive Board of the Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies. The Board confirmed the following elections by the University Musical Society to membership in the Board of Directors in the Musical Society, for the term ending in 1941 (p. 178): Junius E. Beal, Levi D. Wines, Earl V. Moore, and Charles A. Sink. Appointments and changes in the teaching staff of the Summer Session of 1938, all within the budget as adopted, were made as follows (p. 466): ADMINISTRATION Leah Margaret Lichtenwalter, Assistant to the Social Director, $100 COLLEGE OF LITERATURE, SCIENCE, AND THE ARTS Economics Robert R. Horner, Two-thirds-time Instructor, $276 William W. Lockwood, Jr., Lecturer, $600, vice Professor Charles F. Remer, declined Robert G. Rodkey, Professor, $920 George J. Stigler, Lecturer, $500 English Harold C. Allen, Assistant, $100 History Preston W. Slosson, Professor, $782, vice Assistant Professor S. Morley Scott, declined Oriental Languages and Literatures Edgar H. Sturtevant, Professor, $920 Leroy Waterman, Half-time Professor, $437. This cancels previous appointment. Speech and General Linguistics Lila Pargment, Instructor, $414. This cancels previous appointment. Zoology Charles G. Dobrovolny, Part-time Instructor, $300 Walter S.
