Preston W. Slosson, Professor of History, University year 1938-1939, without
salary, in order that he may serve as Carnegie Visiting Professor at the
University of Bristol, England
John H. Ehlers, Associate Professor of Botany, second semester, University
year- 1937-1938, sabbatical
Clare E. Griffin, Dean of the School of Business Administration, for two months
during the summer of 1938, with salary

The sum of $11,367.79 was added to the budget of the Early
Modern English and Middle English Dictionaries, $6,367.79 being for
salaries and current expense and $5,000 for payment of the second
installment, now due, on printing contract with the Clarendon Press.
A revolving fund of $6,000 was set up out of which expenses of
securing microfilms of English legal treatises earlier than the year
1600 will be paid and into which receipts from the sale of such films
to other universities will be covered. It is the expectation that this
appropriation will ultimately be fully reimbursed to the general funds.
The sum of $1,500 was added to the Teachers' Annuity fund.
The sum of $1,050 was added to the Reserve for Purchase of Accounting Machines in the Business Office.
The sum of $850 was transferred from the University Fellowship
and Scholarship account in the Graduate School to the Salaries account of the Land Utilization Research Program.
The sum of $500 was appropriated to the Current Expense account of the Land Utilization Research Program.
The Board directed that Bernhardt Maulbetsch, who has been a
fireman in the University Power Plant for over thirty-five of the last
thirty-seven years, and who has been incapacitated by age and illness,
be continued on the Power Plant payroll at the rate of $35 a month,
beginning January 1, 1938. The sum of $210 was added to the Power
Plant account.
