344 SEPTEMBER MEETING, 1937 recorded in Liber 324, page 375, of the Register of Deeds for Washtenaw County, October 20, 1936, as: Beginning at a point on the west line of Concord Road 69.88 feet north of the southeast corner of Lot 12, Andrew Franklin Smith's Addition; thence continuing along the west line of said Concord Road 54.54 feet; thence deflecting 83~ 07' 00" to the right 2.49 feet; thence southerly 45.85 feet to the place of beginning, being part of the southwest one quarter of Section 27, Town 2 south, Range 6 east. Actions of the Executive Committee were approved and ratified in accordance with the committee's minutes as follows (p. 323): August 2, 1937 Present, President Ruthven, Regent Beal, and Regent Stone. On recommendation of Professor Heber D. Curtis, Director of the Observatories, and with the approval of the Faculty Personnel Committee, the salary of Harold E. Sawyer, Assistant Astronomer at the McMath-Hulbert Observatory, Lake Angelus, was increased from $2,000 to $2,200 a year, twelve-month basis, for the six-month period from July 1, 1937, to December 31, 1937, payable from Rackham Research Project R No. 18 (p. 206). August 2, 1937 Present, President Ruthven, Regent Beal, and Regent Stone. With the approval of the Faculty Personnel Committee, and on recommendation by Professor Herbert A. Kenyon, Director, the committee approved the budget of the Lydia Mendelssohn Theater for the year 1937-1938 as follows: *Herbert A. Kenyon, Director..................................$ 500.00 *E. G. Pascoe, Custodian..................................... 1,620.00 *J. H. Rumsey, Assistant Janitor.............................. 600.00 Cloak Room attendants (hourly)............................... 250.00 Extra help (hourly).......................................... 150.00 Total salaries...............................................$3,120.00 Current expense and equipment................................. 2,010.20 Total............................................$5,130.20 Professor Kenyon estimates that theater rentals, from which this budget is financed, will approximate $5,400 for 1937-1938. August 3, 1937 Present, President Ruthven, Regent Beal, and Regent Stone. With the approval of Dean Yoakum, of The Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies, the committee accepted with thanks the tender of the sum of $8,150 from Dr. and Mrs. Harry A. Towsley of Ann Arbor, to finance, for the year 1937-1938, the work of the Ann Arbor Boys' Guidance Project, which is under the direction of Dr. Lowell J. Carr of the Department of Sociology (p. 36). August 5, 1937 Present, President Ruthven, Regent Beal, and Regent Stone. With the approval of Dean Albert C. Furstenberg, the committee accepted a grant of $1,200, from a donor to be recorded as anonymous, for the establishment during the year 1937-1938 of a Special Assistantship in Surgery to be awarded to Dr. Frank H. Power. August 5, 1937 Present, President Ruthven, Regent Beal, and Regent Stone. The committee appointed Andrew Delbridge Osborn, Ph.D., Acting Assistant Professor of Library Science for the University year 1937-1938, with compensation at the rate of $3,000 for the University year, vice Harland A. Carpenter, resigned (p. 327). This appointment has the approval of Librarian William W. Bishop, Dean Edward H. Kraus, and the Executive Committee of the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts. * Twelve-month basis.
