Springer, Instructor in Aeronautical Engineering, year of 1937-1938, without salary The Committee on Office Personnel was vested with authority to grant leaves of absence, without salary, to members of the secretarial and clerical staff, such leaves of absence to be reported to the Regents regularly in routine. The following leaves were approved: Marjorie M. Barber, Secretary to the Assistant Secretary, Business Office: the month of September, 1937, without pay Margaret Van Duren, Secretary, History Department: six weeks' leave, July 12 to August 23, 1937, without pay Marion Tenney, Secretary, English Language and Literature: leave, without pay, from June 24 to August 21, 1937 Jessie W. Forsythe, Clerk, Bureau of Appointments: leave, without pay, May 22 to September 1, 1937 Fanni H. Kaufmann, Assistant to the Registrar, Registrar's Office: leave of absence for one year, June 1, 1937, to May 30, 1938, without pay The following budget for Legal Research, already approved by Mr. John T. Creighton, Trustee, was approved for the year 1937-1938 (R.P. 1932-1936, p. 866): Salaries and wages......................................$ 9,500 Research projects and miscellaneous expenses............... 28,400 Research publications.................................... 2,500 Publication of Laws and Proceedings of the State Constitutional Conventions Called to Ratify the Amendment to the United States Constitution Repealing the Prohibition Amendment.. 4,500 Graduate fellowships for Legal Research.................. 6,000 Professorship of American Institutions and Their Preservation.. 4,000 Total............................................... $54,900 The sum of $3,500 was appropriated from general funds to supplement the sum of $5,000 originally granted from trust funds (pp. 172 and 156) to cover the cost of the centenary Celebration. The salary of Mr. Egbert Isbell as Associate Editor of the University of Michigan Encyclopedia (p. 172) is to be paid from the total of $8,500 thus provided. The sum of $150 was appropriated from the Baird Endowment fund for the expenses of a field trip to the headwaters of the Panuco River
