That the Regents, as Trustees of the fund, buy the
property at 1227 Wasltenaw avenue for the consideration
of $5,600, $2,000 to be paid down, the balance to be carried
as a mortgage to the present owner at 6(% interest.
The Detroit Association has examined this property
-and found that with certain remodeling it will house sixteen women students. The cost of the remodeling is estimated at $4,00oo to b)e paid from the cash in the hands of
the Regents.
The Detroit Association assumes the responsibility of
superintending the remodeling. The work is to be placed
in the hands of the following committee: Miss Claire
Sanders, Mrs. William B. Cady, Mrs. William King, Miss
Florence Dillon, Mrs. David Scheyer, Mrs. John Bryant,
Mrs. H. A. Sanders, and Miss Louise Wicks.
The Detroit Association assumes all obligations for
the mortgage and interest and the collection of the pledges
and the soliciting of additional funds for the completion of
the work with the expectation of paying off the mortgage
at an early date.
If, at some future date, the campaign for funds for a
large hall be resumed, we wish the privilege of asking
the Regents to sell this property and turn the proceeds into
the fund for the erection of the hall as was originally
planned.
It is intended ithat this residence shall be run as a
co-operative house in the interest of self-supporting women
students, the government to he in the hands of a Board of
Alumnae suggested by the Detroit Association and appointed
by the Regents.
In the event of the adoption of this plan 1y the Regents
and in order that the work may proceed at once, the Detroit Association wishes to suggest the following names
for the Board of Governors:
