The Executive Board of the Graduate School was empowered to make additions to the above named Committee.
The President presented letters from Professor John C.
Parker for himself and Messrs. A. H. Lovell, H. S. Sheppard, and Ward F. Davidson, and from Professor H. E.
Riggs for Instructor 0. M. McNeil, from Elmer A. Harrington, Instructor in Physics, from J. Ralston Hayden, Instructor in Political Science, and from Arthur E. R. Boak,
Assistant Professor in History, with respect to leaves of absence should they be called into the military or naval service of the Government.
On motion of Regent Sawyer, the Board adopted the
following resolution with respect to the above:
Resolved, That the President be authorized to grant
leaves of absence, with salary, at his discretion, to members
of the Faculty called into the military or naval service of
the country, on condition that such members of the Faculty
shall supply substitutes satisfactory to the President and the
Dean of their School or College.
On motion of Regent Sawyer, the Board voted that the
selection of a Commandant of Cadets in the University
should be left with the President and the M\ilitary Committee, with power.
On motion of Regent Clements, the Board voted that no
clock should be placed on the Library Building. Just what
arrangements should be made for furnishing time for the
Campus classes was not settled.
At this point the Board adjourned for lunch.
