GENTLEMEN:
Your Executive Committee at a meeting held September
I5, appointed Mr. Horace Justin Andrews as Instructor
in Forestry for the year I916-I917 at a salary of $I,200.
This appointment is made to fill the vacancy caused by the
resignation of Mr. James Henry Pottinger. It involves no
change in the budget as the salary paid to Mr. Andrews is
the same as that provided in the budget for Mr. Pottinger.
It was necessary that the appointment be made at the present
time in order that the appointee might be notified and be
prepared to take up his work at the opening of the University. Professor Roth's letter of recommendation is attached
hereto. The Committee asks that this action be confirmed.

GENTLEMEN:At a meeting of your Executive Committee, held September 16, to consider the typhoid situation in Ann Arbor,
it was ordered by your Committee that the Health Service
of the University make such examinations as may be necessary to determine that patients who have apparently recovered from the fever may safely be discharged from the
hospital or from quarantine. The Health Service was authorized to secure such extra assistance as may be necessary
for this work, it being understood that the city of Ann
Arbor is to meet the expense of this work in connection with
