496 JULY MEETING, 1916 neering Shops, giving the list of salaried and day workmen in the Engineering Shops, within the budget established by the Regents. On motion of Regent Clements, the proposed scale of salaries and wages was approved. On motion of Regent Hubbard, Regents' traveling expenses were approved, as follows:Regent Gore, from July 21, I915, to June I9, I916, inclusive, $76.T1. Regent Sawyer, from February 4, 1916, to July II, 1916, inclusive, $65.56. Regent Clements, from January 5, I916, to June 29, I916, inclusive, $I28.46. On motion of Regent Beal, Regent Sawyer was appointed to initial the University vouchers for the months of July, August, and September. On motion of Regent Bulkley, the Board directed that Corporal David Kummer, now with the 3Ist Michigan Infantry, should be continued on the University pay-roll as instrument man in the Department of Electrical Engineering at regular salary until further notice. The Secretary presented the following memorandum approved by the Auditing Board adjusting certain questions arising out of the change in the method of paying Medical School fees: The laboratory fees actually paid by the purchase of laboratory tickets during the summer are to be refunded some time during the following year to medical students who take work during the succeeding year. The method of this refund is to be agreed upon later. The propriety of making refunds of these fees is found in the fact that the new annual fee in the Medical Schools is imposed with the purpose of covering all laboratory fees and students who shorten their courses by Summer Session work and who during the next succeeding year pay the full annual fee, are entitled to a refund of the laboratory fee paid during the summer. For many years it has been the custom to refund a portion of the laboratory fee to students in certain laboratories if such students furnish their microscopes.
