JULY MEETING, 1916

On motion of Regent Sawyer, Dr. Marcus L. Ward was
elected Dean of the College of Dental Surgery, with the
salary of $500 as Dean in addition to the salary attached to
his Professorship, this appointment to take effect immediately.
On motion of Regent Beal, in accordance with the recommendation of the Faculty of the College of Literature,
Science, and the Arts, Teachers' Diplomas were granted to
the following:Saluda Chapman Drenning Arthur August Rather
Mark Fakkema Henry Jacob Ryskanm
Leroy Charles Johnson Ernest Burton. Skaggs
Seale Bond Johnson L. Edward Vander Zalm
On motion of Regent Beal, Julio del Toro and Albert B.
Johnson were appointed Instructors in Spanish for the University year I916-I9I7 at the salary of $I,ooo each, as provided in the budget.
On motion of Regent Beal, Dr. C. C. Kiess was appointed Instructor in Astronomy for the University year
I916-1917 at the salary of $I,400, as provided in the budget.
On motion of Regent Beal, Mr. Frank L. Hager and
Mr. H. C. Barnett were appointed Instructors in French for
the University year 1916-1917, at the salary of $I,oo0, as
provided in the budget. The appointment of Mr. Barnett
is to the work originally assigned in the budget to Assistant
Professor Rene Talamon.
On motion of Regent Beal, Mr. Howard C. Smith was
appointed as Assistant in French for the University year
I916-19I7, with salary of $450, as provided in the budget.
On motion of Regent Hubbard, Regent Gore, Judge C.
B. Grant, and Professor H. R. Cross were reappointed for
one year from June I, I916, as the Committee in Control
of the Alumni Memorial Hall in accordance with the action
of the Regents in May, 1912 (see page 422).
On motion of Regent Beal, the sum of $200 was added
to the administrative salary roll of the College of Literature,
Science, and the Arts to provide additional advisers to
students.
On motion of Regent Clements, the Executive Committee was given authority to pass upon such changes as the
