About the construction

Description: This two story gable front Folk House has a stone foundation, uncovered front entry porch with modern spindle railing, and is sided with aluminum. The large front window was most likely added at a later date. Detached garage.
Date Of Construction: ca.1870
Context: This gable front Folk House was a common house type from about 1850-1890 in both the Midwest and Saline. The railroad, which came to Saline in 1870, brought building supplies and machinery which encouraged the production of this type of vernacular frame house.
