About the construction

Description: This gable front and wing Folk House sits on a cut stone foundation. A frieze window sits above the entry porch to which new turned supports have been added. The garage is attached to a shed roof addition at the rear. The house is covered with aluminum except for a pseudo-brick composition shingle siding in the porch area.
Date Of Construction: ca.1895
Context: The Wheeler family occupied this house from approximately the turn of the century until 1941. May Wheeler (August 4,1869 to May 25, 1941) was a teacher at Benton School (south of Saline on Michigan Avenue), then worked in her brother, Oscar's jewelry store at 100 E. Michigan Avenue for 23 years.
