- Photographs primarily of views from around Pine Ridge Agency, South Dakota, Oglala Lakota Indian men, women and children (both individual and group portraits) at Pine Ridge Indian Reservation wearing western and traditional clothing, Oglala Lakota encampments, structures and gatherings, ranching activities and scenic views of the Badlands. Images of note include several photographs related to Fourth of July celebrations, an encampment established "for the Fox Dance", wooden structure related to Grass Dance captioned "The Omaha Dance-House", storefront in Wounded Knee belonging to Joseph Black-Bear, church near Porcupine Creek, several photographs related to horse and cattle round ups and branding, students and teachers at No. 29 Day School, aftermath of "the blizzard of Mar. 24, 1901", a giveaway of "$660 worth of provisions", a white American hunter holding dead lynx, United States Oglala Indian Training School campus, site of Wounded Knee Massacre and interior views of church with decorative cloth at pulpit with embroidered "Aliluya" and cross design as well as Lakota language phrases placed around church interior. Majority of photographs supplied with contemporary inscribed image captions.
