(a) To flourish, thrive, prosper; ben thowen; waxen and ~; ~ ivele, not thrive; ppl. theende, thriving, prosperous; also, glossing L probus: in good condition, proper, well constituted [a few quots. before a1400 may belong to (c)]; (b) to cause (sb.) to thrive, let prosper; (c) to grow, increase; also, mature, grow up; ben thowen; ppl. thowen, grown; (d) ?wel thowen, well behaved [form could perh. be construed as pr. pl. and belong to (a) or (c)].
