A sum or an amount of money received by a person, guild, church, etc.; an income; -- also pl.; forein ~ [see also forein adj. 5.(b)].

(a) The receiving or reception of something; also, the taking of food; bokes of ~, account books, ledgers detailing monies received; (b) the reception of somebody into a religious order; haven in ~, to accept (sb. as king); (c) the receiving of stolen goods, reset; (d) a draught of a drink.
