As first-person singular reflexive pronoun: myself, for myself, to myself; accorden ~, to agree; auntren ~, venture; felen (knouen) ~, regard myself (as); peinen ~, take pains, exert myself; repenten ~, regret; etc.

As first-person singular pronoun expressing a 'dative of interest' or 'ethical dative': to me, for me; in my behalf (presence), for my convenience, etc.; -- often hard to distinguish from ind. obj. or reflexive.

In impersonal constructions: (a) as object of an impersonal verb or a verb used impersonally; as) ~ thinketh, as) it seems to me, etc.; -- frequently with hit (also that, what), an infinitive, or a clause as subject; hit bihovede (tikeleth) ~, hit ~ noiede, hit remembreth ~, ~ thinketh hit, etc.; what happede ~, etc.; bihoveth ~ to chasten, longeth ~ to eten, ~ bihoveth..ben, ~ paied..to ben, etc.; ~ athinketh (semeth, wondreth) that, etc.; (b) with ben and adjective or noun; hard ~ was, hit is ~ uncouth, that ~ was nede, that were ~..loth, ~ were lef (loth), etc.; -- frequently in asseverations and exclamations: care (wele, wo) is ~, ~ is..wo, ~ is the worse, wo ~, etc.; also, with ben and ppl.: nou is ~ shapen, what..~ is dight, etc.

In absolute constructions: ~ being displesed, ~ unware.
