Definitions (Senses and Subsenses)

1.
Inflectional suffix in verbs: (a) Forming the past ind.pl. of all verbs, e.g. fǒund-en, dēmd-en; (b) forming the pres.ind.pl. of the preterit-present verbs: e.g. kunn-en, mǒu-en, wit-en; (c) forming the pres. and past subj.pl. of all verbs, e. g. find-en, dēm-en, kunn-en and fǒund-en, dēmd-en, kǒuth-en; (d) forming the pres.ind.pl. of all verbs in the greater part of the Midland area, replacing earlier -eth (which survives in the South and adjoining parts of the Midland), e. g. find-en, dēm-en. In all these verb forms -en is reduced to -e during the ME period and later lost.

Supplemental Materials (draft)

Note: Add a new subsense. This -en is a suffix with adverbs (like thrīen adv.) which is perhaps a development of -en suf.(6).--per REL
