Wright, personal communication to Hans Kurath of MED, 1948), apparently confirmed by the more recent opinions of Manfred Görlach (1974) and e-LALME.

Note: Dated c1400 in the print MED, a date based on advice of the Keeper and Assistant Keeper of Manuscripts at the British Museum (A.J. Collins and C.E. Wright, personal communication to Hans Kurath of MED, 1948). Re-dated to c1350 in 2023-08 based on what appears to be a more recent consensus that the scribes of this MS were contemporaries of each other, e.g. in the work of Manfred Görlach (1974) and in e-LALME. The distinction of MED stencils remains, however, lest the consensus change again, based on the break in hands identified by Horstmann (1877) and supported by Keller (1909 and 1914), but abandoned by Görlach (who posits a break in hands at f.149v) and perhaps by e-LALME (which appears to confuse the two).
