[1]   AES, DNA RG 204, U.S. Pardon Attorney, B 5. Lincoln's endorsement appears on a letter of ``R. Barrette,'' Syracuse, New York, to Representative Thomas T. Davis, February 20, 1865, reminding him of a petition for pardon. Davis endorsed: ``Robert Barnett [sic] was convicted . . . for two years for discouraging enlistments. . . . I respectfully ask for his release. . . .''
