I know nothing of Col. Briscoe; nor have I taken any supervision in the organization of Hancock's new Corps.2Jump to section Hence I submit these papers to the Sec. of War, simply remarking that they seem to be good and ample. A. LINCOLN

[1]   AES, owned by Verne Miners, Chicago, Illinois. Lincoln's endorsement has been removed from attendant papers. Colonel James C. Briscoe of the One Hundred Ninety-ninth Pennsylvania Volunteers was brevetted brigadier general from March 13, 1865.

[2]   The First Army Corps was reorganized under the command of Major General Winfield S. Hancock, November 28, 1864.
