[1] AD, I-Ar. The bill passed both houses and may be found in Laws of Illinois, 1837, pp. 203-204. Lincoln wrote this bill in response to a petition signed by James Pantier, John Jones, and other citizens who were dissatisfied with the bill which Lincoln had introduced in December, 1835. (See the bill by the same title, December 15, 1835, supra.)
