Annotation

[1]   Legal document owned by William H. Townsend, Lexington, Kentucky. The praecipe filed by Stuart and Dummer on April 7, 1834, in Peter Van Bergen v. Berry, Lincoln, and Green, contains a copy of the note. The original has not been identified. Radford having collected part of the note made a partial assignment to Van Bergen; who got judgment on November 19, 1834, in the amount of $154. Lincoln and Berry being unable to pay, the sheriff levied on their personal possessions, and Lincoln's horse, saddle, bridle, and surveying instruments were sold on execution. James Short bid them in and returned them to Lincoln.
