[1] ALS, InU. Herndon was known by his middle name. He was an old friend from New Salem, whose interest in the Herndon-Berry store Lincoln had purchased.
[2] Probably George Redman.
[3] Dr. Felix Regnier, brother of Dr. Francis Regnier, a young doctor from Ohio who settled in New Salem, later moving to Clary's Grove, then to Petersburg, Illinois.
