[1] ALS, CSmH. Davis, an attorney living in Vandalia, Illinois, was appointed state auditor by Governor Joseph Duncan, November 16, 1835.
[2] Anson G. Henry, a physician and Whig politician of Springfield, Illinois, was one of Lincoln's closest associates.
[3] Passed by the legislature February 24-25, 1837, removing the state capital from Vandalia to Springfield.
