Abstract
We shall present in this paper the compositional works realized at IRCAM during the musical season 86-87.
The different pieces realized during this year, involving the large variety of resources available and the ongoing
research projects at IRCAM, have been grouped for their presentation to the public in three major events:
- an event devoted to the rise of Personal Systems for Computer Music, articulated through the form of a
Symposium, and including a series of 4 concerts with premieres of the three following pieces:
- "Diademes" by Marc-Andr6 Dalbavie,
- "Fragments de Lune" by Philippe Hurel,
- "Ur", by Magnus Lindberg,
all of them scored for ensemble and live-electronics (YAMAHA TX8-16, and various digital sound processors),
and controlled by the PreFORM environment on a Macintosh;
- a series of concerts for the celebration of IRCAM 10th anniversary, with two different programs: one
devoted to ensemble or soloist and live-electronics, the other to mixed pieces for ensemble and tape realized with
computer:
- "Jupiter" by Philippe Manoury, for solo flute and 4X live controlled by MAX,
- "Aloni" by Thierry Lancino, for ensemble, children choir and 4X live controlled by MAX.
- "Antara" by George Benjamin, for ensemble and 4X live,
- "Kristallwerk III" by Michael Obst, for ensemble and tape realized with Phase-Vocoder,
- "lo" by Kaija Saariaho, for ensemble, tape realised with CHANT and FORMES, and live-electronics
controlled by PreFORM;
- and a series of 2 concerts in collaboration with the GRM studio,
- "Vox V" by Trevor Wishart, a tape piece realized with Phase-Vocoder,
- "Arc" by Barry Anderson, for ensemble and tape realized with Phase-Vocoder ibid,
- "Adr" by Francois Bayle, a tape piece realized with 4X.
These pieces will be discussed and extracts of their performances will be played.
