Sed fugite, o miseri, fugite, atque ab litore funem Rumpite! Clamorem immensum tollit, quo pontus et omnes Intremuere undae penitùsque exterrita tellus Italiae curvisque immugit Aetna Cavernis. — fluit ae rivis, auique metallum Vulnificùsque chalybs vastâ fornace liquescit — Alii ventosis follibus auras Accipiunt reddúntque, alii stridentia tinguni Aera lacu: gemit impositis incudibus antrum. Illi inter sese multâ vi brachia tollunt In numerum versátque tenaci forcipe massam. VIRGIL.
