In convertendo. Psal. cxxvi.
W. W.
WHen that the Lordagain his Sion had forth broughtFrom bondage great, and also servitude extreme; His work was suchas did surmount mans heart & thought:So that we weremuch like to them that use to dream, [verse 2] Our mouths werewith laughter filled then,And eke our tonguesdid shew us joyful men.
The heathen folkwere forced then this to confess,How that the Lordfor them also great things had done. [verse 3] But much more we,and therefore can confess no less:Wherefore to joywe have good cause as we begun. [verse 4] O Lord, go forth, thou canst our bondage end:As to desertsthe flowing rivers send.
[verse 5] Full true it isthat they which sow in tears indeed,A time will comewhen they shall reap in mirth and joy. [verse 6] They went and weptin bearing of their precious seed,For that their foesfull often times did them annoy:But their returnwith joy they shall sure see,Their sheaves home bring, and not empaired be.
