ART. VI. Of the sufficiency of the holy Scriptures for Salvation.

Holy Scripturea containeth all things necessary to salva∣tion b; so that whatsoever is not read therein, nor may be pro∣ved thereby, is not to be believed as an Article of Faith, or necessary to salvationc.

By the name of holy Scripture, we understand all the Ca∣nonical Books of the Old and New Testament; which follow.

  • Of the Old Testament, Genesis, Exodus, &c.
  • Of the New Testament, The Gospel according to Matthew, &c.

All which Books, as they are commonly received, vve do re∣ceive, and acknowledge them to be given by the inspiration of God, and in that regard to be of most certain credit, and highest authority.
