IF thou wouldst increase in learn∣ing, and grow in grace, set thine ears to harken to the Word; if thou wouldst not have thy prayers despised, despise not the Word; to heare the Word come thou never careless, lest thou depart fruitless; come thou never with any con∣tempt, least thou reape condemna∣tion;

whosoever busieth himself in other things, as gazing here and there, observing clothes, and coun∣tenances, remooving, talking, beck∣ning, nodding, and such like ge∣stures, whil'st he is hearing, hea∣reth but with half an ear, if with half an ear, whereas both are too little for so high a work; whereas all the powers both of soul and bo∣dy should for that time wait upon the voice of the Preacher.
