A Wash to make Hair black.

℞. Rinds of green Wall-nuts half a pound, Bark of Oak, Alder, Galls, of each 2 Ounces; leaves of Myrtle, Pomegranate, of each 1 handfull; boil them in three pints of water, untill a third part is consumed; then strain with a strong expression, and dissolve in the Liquor an Ounce and a half of Rock-Alum, and the like quantity of Eng∣lish green Vitriol.

This darkens red hair wonderfully, if often moistned and, left to dry of it self without rubbing.
