It is a wicked thing in a Judge to incline to con∣sider the quality of the per∣son, and not the merits of the cause that is brought be∣fore him: For though perhaps at the first he could not be corrupted under a great sum of money, yet, having accu∣stomed himself to it, he will at last sell his Sentence at the lowest rates; nay, be moved by the smallest considerations to forsake the rules, which ought to guide him.
