BVt speake thou that whiche becommeth [ A] holsome lernynge. That the elder men be sober, honest, discrete, sounde in the faythe, in loue, in pacience. The elder women lykewyse, that they be in suche raymente as becommeth holynes, not false accusers, not gyuen to moche drynkynge, but teachers of honest thynges, to make the yonge women sobre mynded, to loue their husbandes, to loue [ B] theyr chyldren, to be discrete, chaste, huswyfly, good, and obedient vnto theyr husbandes, that the worde of God be not euyll spoken of. Yonge men lykewyse exhorte, that they be sobre mynded.
Aboue all thynges, shewe thy selfe an ex∣emple of good workes, with vncorrupte do∣ctryne with honestie, and with the holsome worde whiche can not be rebuked, that he whiche withstandeth, maye be ashamed, ha∣uinge nothynge in you that he may disprayse. The seruauntes exhorte to be obedient vn∣to [ C] theyr owne masters, and to please in all thinges, not answerynge agayne, neyther to be pyckers, but that they shew al good fayth∣fulnes, that they maye do worshyp to the do∣ctryne of our sauyour God in all thynges. ✚ For the grace of God that bryngeth salua∣cion vnto all men, hathe appeared, and tea∣cheth vs that we sholde denye vngodlynes, and worldly lustes, and that we sholde lyue sobre mynded, ryghtously and godly in this present worlde, lokynge for that blessed hope and gloryous apperynge of the myghty God, and of oure sauyoure Iesu Chryste, whiche gaue hym selfe for vs to redeme vs frome all [ D] vnryghtousnes, and to pourge vs a peculyar people vnto him selfe, feruently gyuen vnto good workes.
